TEOLOGI KESEHATAN DALAM FENOMENA TRANSGENDER DARI FILM THE DANISH GIRL SEBAGAI UPAYA KESEHATAN FISIK DAN PSIKIS

Abstract

Abstract: The continuous advancement of technology has given rise to a strong theological voice in responding to these developments. In the world of health, biomedical developments have been quite rapid, specifically highlighting transgender issues facilitated by these technological advancements. This paper examines theology and popular culture in the film "The Danish Girl," addressing the transgender phenomenon as an effort to maintain physical and psychological health. This is an attempt to read theological voices to address the correlation between theology and health. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach. The results found that the transgender phenomenon in "The Danish Girl" demonstrates the need for openness, justice, and equality in both physical and psychological aspects. In this regard, the church needs to be present and play an active role in providing education regarding sexual issues that occur in congregational life. Furthermore, the church needs to undertake participatory and active efforts to address social issues that can impact community relations as a form of preventative action.

Abstrak: Perkembangan kemajuan teknologi yang hingga kini terus berkembang, telah memberi tendensi yang sangat kuat bagi suara teologi menyikapi perkembangan tersebut. Dalam dunia kesehatan, perkembangan biomedis cukup berkembang pesat lebih khusus menyorot tentang transgender yang terfasilitasi melalui perkembangan teknologi tersebut. Melalui tulisan ini hendak mengkaji teologi dan budaya populer dalam film The Danish Girl mengenai fenomena transgender sebagai upaya keberlangsungan individu yang sehat fisik dan psikis. Hal ini menjadi upaya membaca suara teologi untuk menyikapi sejauh mana korelasi teologi dan kesehatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka (library research). Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa fenomena transgender dalam The Danish Girl menunjukkan perlunya keterbukaan, keadilan, dan kesetaraan dalam fisik dan psikis. Dalam hal ini gereja perlu hadir dan berperan aktif untuk memberi edukasi mengenai persoalan-persoalan seksual yang terjadi dalam hidup berjemaat.  Selain itu, gereja perlu melakukan upaya partisipatif-aktif untuk menghadapi isu-isu sosial yang dapat memberi dampak pada relasi masyarakat sebagai bentuk tindakan preventif.
